RETMUS PLASTIC SURGER

I am from North America, I’m in my mid-forties, and I came across Retmus clinic while reading about revisional surgeries on Reddit and Purseforum. I was very intrigued, so I messaged to inquire, and the communication with the clinic was good from the beginning, I was communicating with the translator in English. Prior to coming to SK, Seoul I knew that I wanted to see Dr. Chung at Retmus Plastic Surgery. I was looking for revision tip plasty and chin implant removal and maybe genioplasty, in which case he could do all, I was also interested in the scarless lip lift as well. I had my blood work done back home prior to coming. My consultation was on May 26, 2026, and I needed a CT scan so Dr Chung could see my facial anatomy and give his recommendations. I had previous facial asymmetry and Dr. Chung explained (I also knew) that these procedures would not fix my soft tissue facial asymmetry. Dr. Chung explained my situation well and after the consultation I felt confident with Dr. Chung, the clinic staff, and I decided to go forward. We were all in agreement on the surgery plan; revision tip plasty w/lip lift, chin implant removal w/genioplasty. My impression of Dr. Chung is that he is very smart, confident, skillful, talented, honest, and he means well. I completely put my trust in his experience and skills. My surgery was the next day; I was to be at the office for 9:00am and in surgery by 11:00am. The staff went through and explained in detail the surgeries to be performed, the risks, potential complications, and I was informed about my medications. I recommend taking pictures, make notes of the important recommendations for after care. After the surgery, I was not nauseous at all, but my mouth was very dry, I had to wait before I could have water, I was also given a bit of oxygen and was to keep awake to let the gasses out. I was able to go to the washroom when needed, the nurse assisted with the walking to. Dr. Chung came into see me after the surgery, he said surgery went well, and he said my chin implant had capsular contracture so when removing he removed as much of the scar tissue that he could, I was relieved and glad to have it out. The Dr, the staff, and nurses were kind and caring, and I felt safe and in good hands. The staff kindly helped and assisted in getting me a taxi back to my stay. The first 1-3 days were the toughest, with some pain swelling, limited movement, strict eating, I only needed 1 Tylenol on day 2 and 1 on day 3, after that it was manageable. I came into the clinic on day 2 for a checkup and my nose stitches were removed at the clinic visit on day 6. I’m currently 1 week out, and my nose and tip are very swollen and numb. My lip lift area is still numb, stiff, with swelling, hard to talk, laugh, eat, and I can’t close my mouth yet. My chin and lower cheeks area are still swollen as well from genioplasty/implant removal, which is to be expected. The stitches are still in my mouth and will be removed this coming week. Now I am patiently waiting for more healing and de-swelling. :)

I had my lip lift done at Retmus Clinic on April 24, 2026, and my overall experience was extremely positive. My consultation took place the day before on April 23rd. It was lengthy but thoroughly worthwhile — covering a full explanation of the surgery, labs, a CT scan, and a one-on-one meeting with Dr. Chung. An English interpreter was available from beginning to end, and Dr. Chung himself speaks English, which was a wonderful added comfort when discussing something as personal as facial surgery. On surgery day, there was some waiting due to the first surgery running longer than expected. My suggestion: don't make any plans that day and go in with a flexible mindset. Once it was my turn, everything went smoothly and without complications. I felt well enough to walk back to my nearby hotel — about 10 minutes — though I'd stress that this is very individual and depends entirely on how you feel. Post-operative care was attentive and thorough. Dr. Chung reviewed his work four days after surgery and administered a steroid IV injection to support healing. On day six, my stitches were removed ahead of a national holiday the following day — the team planned around it perfectly. All pre- and post-care instructions were clearly explained, and I'd always encourage patients to repeat questions and ask for clarity on medications or the procedure if anything is unclear. Even two weeks out from surgery, you genuinely cannot tell I had anything done. Now I truly understand why they call it the scarless lip lift. I wholeheartedly recommend Retmus Clinic and Dr. Chung to anyone considering this procedure. I'm from the US and had a scarless lip lift and tip plasty at Retmus Plastic Surgery on March 24, so this is my 1-week review (written on April 2). Note that I agreed to provide my honest review in return for a 10% discount on the surgery fee. Name of surgery: Tip plasty and lip lift surgery How I found them: Discovered Retmus on TikTok, then decided to book with them after an in-person consultation earlier this year Doctor's name: Dr. Chung Seungil Price: 13,000,000 KRW for lip lift and tip plasty with donated rib cartilage Consultation: My first visit to Retmus was for an in-person consultation in January where they scanned my face to determine the best action plan, and also to go over the pros and cons of what the results may be for me. For instance, they pointed out my marionette lines and how they will likely be accentuated by the lip lift. I appreciated that they showed me photos of past patients with similar sagging and I decided to go forward anyway. There was little waiting time for my consultation appointment. They have 1-2 English translators on staff, and the doctor is also fluent in English. Before the surgery: There is some prep to do as far as providing them with a blood test, stopping medications, and fasting before the surgery. All pretty straightforward. Day of surgery (Day 0): Nerves aside, the process was smooth and thorough. I had a final consultation where the staff reviewed the surgical plan, set expectations, explained the aftercare, and provided paperwork. The surgery itself was fine (I think?)—I was knocked out with anesthesia so I have no recollection of any of it. The staff offered to pick up my aftercare prescriptions for me (with my permission to use my credit card) while I was in surgery, which saved me some trouble because all I wanted to do was go to my room right after. Woke up with no bruising and was able to walk back to my hotel by myself (I stayed very close by). I will say that while I was aware of what my face would probably look like immediately post-surgery thanks to previous Reddit reviewers, it was still a shock to see myself so rat-faced. After surgery (Days 1-9): The first 4 days post-surgery were the most uncomfortable and painful due to the swelling. Again, I'm grateful for past reviewers who mentioned that this is the time when they felt their lowest—I similarly was panicked that I'd made a permanent, expensive mistake. I really didn't recognize my face at all and had a hard time imagining that it would ever settle. Swelling finally started going down a tiny bit on Day 6, though my face was still far from normal. Stitch removal was on Day 7, and my columella and nostrils were pretty sensitive and crusty, but the doctor seemed pleased with my progress. Day 8 was when I felt like I could see a hint of normalcy and finally stopped wearing a mask. Now at Day 9, I still look like I'm scowling more than I'd like, but the swelling has subsided a lot and my lip is slowly dropping, although there is a good amount of teeth showing (which I think—and hope—will go away). My husband still thinks I look crazy though, ha. Thoughts so far: I'm satisfied with how everything has gone so far, and I'm hopeful that my results will look as natural as the others I've seen on here. Throughout the process, I found the staff to be quite communicative and very responsive over Line app, which is a relief because I've had a lot of questions. I don't have any regrets (yet)—I'm giving myself a few more weeks before forming any opinions. I’ve had online consultations with a couple of doctors in Seoul and endless texts with other clinics what Retmus stood out the most was Dr Chung’s scarless technique and his harmony vision, also big shout to Jieun, whenever I ask a question, she replied very detailed informations and throughly, it just feels right and professional so i decided to go with them. When I got there I felt welcoming and the place itself just so calm and nice, everyone is super friendly and professional, thanks to my 2 lovely translators and another Jieun the consultant, Dr Chung is very kind, he listened to my concerns and gave me the best advice, I instantly trusted that I’ll be in a good hands. On the day of surgery, I was nervous but they have the friendliest nature so I felt pretty relaxed. After 2 1/2 hours I was out and didn’t feel any pain. Hi, I’m from the United States and I recently had Revisional tip plasty & lip lift & brow lift surgery with Dr. Chung, and I am very satisfied with my results so far! I found the clinic through research and compared online reviews and other famous doctors in LA too , and I’m really glad I chose this clinic! It has been 1 week after my surgery, and even though there is still some swelling, I can already see a big improvement compared to before surgery. My nose tip looks more refined and balanced, and the lip lift made my face look more proportional and youthful. I’m excited to see the results after a few more weeks and months. One of the biggest advantages was the consultation and overall service. The consultation was very detailed and honest, and Dr. Chung explained clearly what could be improved and what kind of result to expect. The staff were also very kind, responsive, and helpful throughout the whole process, from consultation to surgery and post-op care. The clinic is also in a very convenient location and very clean and professional. I saw many overseas patients too. It's overall very ssmooth I would recommend this clinic highly. In October 2024, I had previous plastic surgery at a different clinic: Zygoma reduction, V-line genioplasty, Rhinoplasty (with self harvested rib cartilage). Unfortunately, my results had several issues: Nose bridge was too high, Chin tip was too long, Nose bridge deviated left, Tip was crooked. The clinic I originally went to has very cookie-cutter results, so I wasn’t surprised when my results didn’t align with the inspo pic I gave them. We discussed: My facial goals, Expectations, Other clients’ procedures & Before/after photos. “Rounder, softer, cuter, more harmonious” were what the director and I were feeling should be my goals. Philtrum Lift Details Retmus specializes in a “C-curl” philtrum lift; when you turn to the side, the philtrum forms a subtle “C” shape. Their results looked: Natural, Cute, Soft, “Bunny-like” (which I personally love because cupid’s bows are big in Korea). Doctor Consultation After the first part of the consultation, I met Dr. Seungil Chung, who reviewed my CT scans, drew on them to better illustrate the surgery procedures, and spoke in clear, fluent English. The doctor was calm, confident, and extremely precise! He also pointed out asymmetries I hadn’t even noticed: Chin tip deviation & Nose bridge deviation. At this point I felt that myself and Retmus were all very aligned with my surgery goals. My last question was if I should make my nose tip smaller or pointier. The doctor said, “Why? It’s already so good.” It made me happy that the doctor was honest about what procedures were worth getting and did not push me to anything unnecessary. Remus only has one doctor and is a small clinic, so post-op care is simple: 1 day for Wound cleaning & Stitch removal (No laser treatments or extra spa-style care). Complication Handling I had a bad reaction to a medication injected into my lips during surgery which lead to severe swelling. They immediately brought me in for an anti-swelling injection the same day I sent them photos, and my lips returned to normal by the next day. They’re very responsive and caring. I also developed an ulcer on my chin from wearing my headband too tightly and they sent me to the pharmacy to get hydrocolloid bandages. I had an amazing experience as a foreigner getting a scarless lip lift at Retmus Clinic. I discovered the clinic through a TikTok creator's video, reached out through WeChat, and received fast communication throughout the entire process. The team has a member who speaks fluent English, and Dr. Chung himself also speaks English, so I didn't feel worried about miscommunication. They provided information prior to my surgery with very thorough explanations. On the day of surgery, I had a detailed consultation that took a few hours. Despite not speaking Korean and it being my first time in Korea, I felt extremely well taken care of. When you arrive, they take X-rays and photos and review everything in detail. You have a thorough consultation with the team first, and then right before surgery you consult with Dr. Chung. Once everything looks and sounds good, you head into the surgery room. All I remember was having my hair tied back, getting an IV in my arm, and lying down before the anesthesia kicked in. I was told the entire procedure took 1 hour and 40 minutes. When I woke up, I was super drowsy and drifted in and out of sleep for about another hour and a half. You have to stay for 2 hours after surgery to let the anesthesia wear off, and after my time was up, I was awake and ready to go. I was able to grab dinner, walk to the nearest bus stop, and take the bus back to my hotel with no problem. The entire surgery itself was painless since I simply went to sleep and woke up when it was done. The recovery process was extremely easy and did not affect my daily activities, except for some slight trouble eating. The top lip drops with time so the result takes months to fully show, but so far I am loving the look (especially given that there is no visible scar, since Dr. Chung hides it inside of the nose). I would highly recommend Retmus Clinic, especially for international patients!

I am currently 12 days post-surgery after undergoing Revisional Tipplasty and Lip Lift Surgery performed by Dr. Chung Seungil at Retmus. Leading up to surgery, I had an in-person consultation and ultimately decided to proceed a few days later after carefully digesting multiple consultations from other clinics. What really stood out to me about Dr. Chung was the sheer volume and depth of his body of work. He was able to share extensive before-and-after examples, including a large repository of non-Asian patients like myself. I saw consistently strong results for both rhinoplasty work and lip lift procedures, and the scar-minimizing lip lift technique was especially appealing. Dr. Chung speaks fluent English, which made communication very clear and reassuring throughout the process. In addition, there was a translator on-site who also supports the clinic’s marketing and patient coordination, and she was consistently available, extremely helpful, and very responsive before and after surgery. On the day of surgery, there was a fair amount of waiting—about three hours before being taken in—but once the anesthesiologist arrived and administered sedation (not general anesthesia), I was out almost immediately and did not feel anything during the procedure. When I woke up, I was only mildly disoriented. I had no headaches or nausea and felt well enough to take public transportation back to my Airbnb a few stops away. My nose was not packed, which I appreciated. The most noticeable discomfort afterward was soreness and tightness in the area between my upper lip and nostrils. It wasn’t unbearable. Recovery has been very much what I would consider expected—not easy, but not dreadful either. It’s more inconvenient than anything else. My cast and internal stitches were removed on day six, at which point the swelling was still very significant and honestly a bit scary. However, by day twelve, the swelling has decreased in my side profile, looks much more feminine. The front view is still difficult to assess at this stage due to lingering tip swelling, so I plan to share updated frontal photos in a few weeks once things settle further. I’m particularly excited to see how everything looks around the three-month mark, when more refinement is expected. Overall, my experience with Retmus and Dr. Chung has been positive so far. While it’s still early in the healing process, I feel optimistic about the final results and appreciate Dr. Chung’s experience, clear communication, and the clinic’s professionalism throughout the process

There is no one better than Dr. Seungil Chung and Retmus Plastic Surgery Clinic. He is meticulous and experienced. He really cares about the outcome and that he creates the vision you want. I have been wanting a philtrum reduction (lip lift) surgery for a couple of years. As part of the aging process my upper lip kept getting thinner because gravity made the philtrum longer. Dr. Chung Seungil kept appearing in my research as having one of the best techniques for this procedure. Unlike most other surgeons, he does this procedure intra-nasally and as a result, there is no visible scar. Super pleased with the result and I look younger. I do not have any scars too! His office staff is also professional, polite and caring. There was no language barrier and communication was easy.

I'm so happy I got the invisible scar lip lift and genioplasty at Retmus Clinic! I've always wanted a lip lift to correct my long philtrum but I was afraid of the scar that would be left from a traditional bullhorn surgery.
