I'm a 20-something office worker who's had my lifelong concerns about my wide face and blunt nose. It was such a major surgery, so I was worried, and I put a lot of effort into it. But I'm so happy with the results, so I'm leaving a review to help others who are struggling like me! (Please read until the end, even though it's a bit long!) ✨ Reason for deciding to get the surgery I often hear that my cheekbones are prominent, making my face look uneven and my face looks a bit harsh. ㅠㅠ My nose is flat and blunt, so it lacks a sophisticated feel. I used to always use photo retouching to trim my cheekbones and make my nose look taller, but now I want to look confident without retouching, so I took the plunge and decided to get the surgery! ✨ Immediately after surgery ~ 1 week I was worried about the pain associated with autologous rib cage surgery, but my nose didn't hurt as much as I thought, and the area where the costal cartilage was removed felt only a little tightness! Since the cheekbone incision was inside my mouth, I initially had difficulty eating comfortably. However, thanks to the meticulous aftercare provided by the hospital, the swelling went down very quickly. ✨ Current Status One Month Later Now, most of the swelling has subsided, with only minor minor swelling remaining! 1. Cheekbone: My facial contours have been smoothed out, making my face look much smaller. My impression has also become softer, and I've heard people around me tell me my "atmosphere looks more sophisticated"—so I'm so happy. 2. Nose (Autologous Rib): I'm so glad I got autologous ribs! Thanks to the excellent support, my nose tip has become perfectly straight and defined, just the way I wanted it. It's more reassuring than having a donor rib, and the shape is so beautiful, I'm incredibly satisfied! ✨ Final Thoughts With the change in my face shape and nose, my overall appearance feels completely revitalized. I am a foreigner who had facial contouring, a lip lift, a corner lip lift and a mini midface lift here. The clinic took great care of me and made me feel comfortable despite my anxiety. ⚠️ Avoid Respect Plastic Surgery – Especially if You’re a Foreign Patient ⚠️ I cannot stress this enough: do NOT trust Respect Plastic Surgery with your health, your money, or your peace of mind. This clinic has demonstrated blatant disregard for transparency, professionalism, and patient care — particularly toward foreign patients like myself. Here are the shocking failures and unethical practices I experienced: 1. They Denied Me My Legal VAT Tax Refund Respect Plastic Surgery outright refused to give me my VAT tax refund, falsely claiming that they are a “small clinic” and exempt from the refund system. That is a complete lie — they are officially listed as clinic #662 under Korea’s tax refund program for cosmetic procedures. I had to go through the trouble of contacting Medical Korea directly, providing proof, and waiting nearly two months to receive only a partial refund. They intentionally labeled the most expensive procedure as “medically necessary” to avoid refunding VAT on it. This is deceptive and dishonest. 2. They Likely Skipped a Procedure I Paid For I paid for a dermis transfer as part of my surgical plan — but based on post-op symptoms and incision locations, I am confident it was never performed. There was no swelling, bruising, or palpable graft in the targeted area, and anatomically, the incisions don’t support that a transfer was ever done. When I asked for CCTV footage of the OR (a standard request for transparency), they told me it doesn’t exist. While I can’t legally prove the procedure wasn’t done without footage, I stand by my belief that they charged me for a procedure they never performed. 3. No Interpreter After Initial Consultation I was promised an interpreter for the entirety of my surgical experience — this did not happen. I woke up from surgery without any interpreter present, and no one was provided for my follow-up visits. As a foreign patient, clear communication is crucial, especially after major surgery. Their complete disregard for this basic necessity speaks volumes about their lack of professionalism and concern for international patients. 4. Surgical Negligence: Eye Injury I woke up in extreme pain due to debris in my left eye. First, I was told something “broke off” in my eye. Later, the story changed — now it was supposedly “ointment.” Regardless of what actually happened, their inability to keep their story straight and take responsibility is unacceptable. I was in pain for over 24 hours due to this negligence. 5. Woke Up Soaked in Urine Yes, you read that right. I woke up from surgery soaked in my own urine due to improper catheter use. This level of neglect is shocking, humiliating, and should never occur in any legitimate medical facility. 6. No Explanation of Prescribed Medications Not a single staff member explained the prescription medications I was handed. No instructions, no dosages, no warnings — just prescriptions handed over without an interpreter. This is negligent and dangerous. 7. Unbelievable Lack of Protocol During Surgery Between procedures, I was made to walk from one operating room to another. When I later brought this up, they denied it ever happened. When I described specific details, they changed their story and claimed I had been “woken up to go to the bathroom.” Seriously? I remember it vividly. I was awake and aware — and I was not escorted to a restroom, I was walked to another OR mid-procedure. It was bizarre and completely inappropriate. Bottom Line: Respect Plastic Surgery markets itself as an international-friendly clinic, but my experience shows they are anything but. They cut corners, gaslight patients, dodge legal responsibilities like VAT refunds, and show gross incompetence and negligence in their patient care. If you are a foreigner considering cosmetic surgery in Korea, I urge you to look elsewhere. There are many reputable clinics in Seoul — this is not one of them. Do not be fooled by appearances. Respect Plastic Surgery does not deserve your trust, your money, or your health.
